Ironing can make clothes smoother and more beautiful, and help garments maintain their shape.

Garment Production Process: Ironing

Ironing with new equipment and new techniques greatly improves the quality of product ironing.

There are several factors to consider when ironing: temperature, humidity, and pressure. Temperature is the most critical factor.

Profoundgarment provides professional training for ironing staff to ensure that they are familiar with the performance characteristics of various fabrics and to adjust ironing temperature and methods according to different fabrics.

Based on the performance characteristics of various fabrics, the external heat input must be adapted to the inherent heat resistance of the fabric. High temperatures can damage the fabric, while low temperatures are ineffective in ironing. The generally mastered ironing temperatures are: synthetic fibers 90~160℃ (nylon around 90℃), silk about 120℃, wool about 160℃ (with a damp cloth about 200℃), cotton about 180℃, and linen about 190℃. The size of ironing pressure and the duration of ironing should be determined according to the thickness of the fabric and the inherent properties of the material.

he functions of ironing are:

  • Smoothing and eliminating fabric wrinkles.
  • Straightening the warp and correcting the warp slanting caused by the dyeing and finishing process of the fabric, so that the fabric can be restored for cutting and sewing.
  • Pre-shrinking to prevent the garment from shrinking during sewing due to heat.
  • Deformation by utilizing the fabric’s plasticity to locally deform the fabric and promote the shape of the garment from straight to curved or from curved to straight to facilitate the production of a well-fitted garment.
  • Shaping by modifying and adjusting the shape of the garment to make up for deficiencies in the manufacturing process and ensure a flat, snug, and non-curling appearance.

Ironing is the process that follows sewing and cutting to ensure that the garment is clean and wrinkle-free before packaging, ensuring its quality and avoiding negative customer feedback after product sales.
